575: hunt

I call three line verses which just follow the traditional 5-7-5 syllable format simply 575. Although this type of poem has generally become known as a haiku, they're not strictly in line with the traditions of the original haiku form, so I don't feel right calling them that.

For the one below, you probably need to be British. And know that the Chancellor of the Exchequer is called Jeremy Hunt. And he delivered his Budget on Wednesday.

Even then, it's probably not particularly funny, but at least it's vaguely topical.

the chancellor stands
and delivers tory hope 
what a Hunt he is
